Laura Kuenssberg’s sly two-word dig at Ed Davey’s election success had the entire internet bristling

It’s fair to say the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg cuts something of a divisive figure, as no-one anywhere probably needs pointing out.

So much so that one of the most popular memes in the wake of the cataclysmic (for the Conservatives) exit poll last week was this.

It’s a Labour LANDSLIDE. pic.twitter.com/JzbGlGBcBn

And we mention the BBC’s former political editor not for anything to do with the Tories, but for her interview with Lib Dem leader Ed Davey at the weekend in the wake of his party’s spectacular election success.

And there was something about it – just two words, in fact – which got people’s goat. Really got people’s goat. See if you can spot it.

“Congratulations, I suppose”

Kuenssberg is such a prick. That’s not how you introduce Ed Davey. That man was the only one to bring joy to the election campaign.

Another example of glowing impartiality from the BBC. People didn’t vote Tory because they’re c*nts, Laura. Simple. pic.twitter.com/DxqbSm2ys8

But if you’d rather just cut to the chase!

BBC Laura K to @EdwardJDavey “Congratulations, I suppose” – why the ‘I suppose!?’ Just a ‘Congratulations’ would have done. She just can’t hide her disdain can she?

Hmm, yes. A Lib Dem total of 71 seats, a gain of 63 and the party’s highest ever total. Like, ever. But – yes – congratulations, I suppose … Presumably Kuenssberg was expecting him to be PM by now.

And these nine people surely said it best.

1.

Diabolic introduction to her interview with Ed Davey from BBC's Laura Kuenssberg.

No spoilers, but pay close attention to the end of the clip.

Can't see anything to justify it. pic.twitter.com/vMNYExLb1T

2.

If I was Ed Davey, I’d have said “what do you mean I suppose it was a great achievement for us and our strategy has worked wonders”. Challenge goes both ways.

3.

“I suppose” – disgusting and demeaning.

And finally, this!

The more I watch #LauraK’s introduction to Ed Davey… do you know what #LauraK you can fuck off. You’re sour faced, butt hurt intro to Ed Davey is so demeaning, mocking him for bungee jumping, all that shit. Have you forgotten Johnson getting stuck on a zip wire? It’s weird how…
